The Role

As a member of the Bank’s Risk Department you’ll be responsible for assisting the Head of Credit Risk in providing objective challenge and contribution to the risk management of the Bank’s Structured Property Finance (‘SPF’), Private Banking mortgages, Financial Institutions (FIs) and Investments credit exposures to provide an effective second line of defence together with any ancillary or additional responsibilities and tasks prescribed with a focus on credit limits maintenance. In addition, support to be provided across the Credit and wider Risk team principally with regard to Capital monitoring as well as liquidity and market risk monitoring and reporting.

·         Stay up to date with all regulatory changes and other key market news

·         Maintenance of the Bank’s Internal Credit Grading Models

 

 

Responsibilities

·         Assessment of all Credit Risks

·         Liaising with the Heads of Operations and IT

·         Monitor compliance of all Credit Policy, Risk Appetite, Stress Test

·         Monitoring the Bank’s risk exposures against predefined risk appetite metrics

·         Review cycle of credits, monitoring of Credit Rating Agency reports and ratings, portfolio concentrations, portfolio specific and general market trends

·         Assist in the compilation of the Chief Risk Officer’s monthly/quarterly reports

·         Oversee exception (breaches) reports and limit utilisation reports

·         Monitor early warning indicators and triggers for individual credit exposures

·         Assist in the management and workout of problematic property loan exposures and other credit exposures

·         Monitor and duly report all exceptions to Credit Policy and documentation deficiencies

·         Liaise with external parties, including credit ratings agencies, to ensure the Bank’s reporting systems remain appropriate and up to date.

 

Experience Required

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of JIB’s target banking sectors and JIB products offered in the UK real estate market together with wholesale and trade finance markets,  latter with a focus on the MENA region.
  • Strong credit skills with a focus on Property Finance and Financial Institutions including a sound understanding of counterparty financial analysis including Balance Sheet, P&L, cashflow and ratio evaluation and interpretation.
  • Good understanding of charged security requirements for property lending.
  • Workout knowledge for problematic property finance exposures is desirable.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory framework, industry trends and best practice regarding the credit markets.
  • Understanding and knowledge of IFRS9 ECL and the BASEL regulations
  • Analytical and pragmatic approach to credit assessment and risk management whilst remaining impartial and objective.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a range of counterparties including senior management.
  • Ability to adapt style to influence positively and gain buy-in at senior level with the ability to challenge and discuss credit risk issues affecting the business.
  • Accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Possess strong control, organisational and time management skills able to prioritise and deal effectively with complexity and to assimilate knowledge quickly.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel.
